Young Worker Spotlight: Brittany Anderson
November 13, 2025 | By Ailish Morgan Welden
Brittany Anderson (she/her/elle) is a strong voice at Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU), wearing a number of hats including:
- President, Local 80207
- CEIU Newfoundland & Labrador / Nova Scotia (NL/NS) region, Regional Treasurer
- NL/NS Regional Young Worker Representative
- Co-Chair, CEIU National Young Worker Committee
Getting involved in movement
A Program Consultant with Content Training and Development at Service Canada, Brittany’s journey into the labour movement began when she applied to become the Regional Young Worker Representative for NL/NS. That first step sparked a deeper commitment to advocacy and representation.
“It took me years of working with the federal government before even understanding what a union is and how it benefits our employment,” Brittany shares. “I may not always agree with every aspect of the union, but I am proud to be an active member and speak up when I feel it is necessary for myself and my members.”
Advice to young workers
Her advice to other young workers?
Get involved in anything that speaks to you. Whether it’s a committee, a campaign, or a conversation—engagement is key.
Her real bosses
Outside of her union and government work, Brittany brings a unique blend of experiences to the table. She’s a casual kitchen employee with Correctional Services Canada and, at home, she’s lovingly ruled by her two dogs, Aspen and Sierra, who she says make all the household decisions.
Mental health and the labour movement
Brittany also shares her journey with mental health.
“I have dealt with anxiety and depression throughout my life but was only more recently diagnosed with ADHD and BPD. These new diagnoses have pushed me to open up more about my internal struggles and begin to self-identify as a member with a disability.”
Her openness and leadership continue to inspire young workers across the country.
Thank you, Brittany, for your courage, advocacy, and commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive labour movement.
