Human Rights / Race Relations Committee
The Human Rights and Race Relations (HRRR) Committee is comprised of the four equity groups within CEIU: Indigenous members, racialized members, 2SLGBTQIA+ members, and members with disabilities.
The mandate of the Committee is to:
- Explore, develop and review human rights and race relations initiatives;
- Review policies within CEIU and the departments/agency;
- Represent and respond to concerns relating to human rights issues;
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of the CEIU as a union and as an employer on issues of human rights/race relations
Committee members
The Committee is comprised of the following: The National Vice President for Human Rights and their Alternate; 10 members at large with 2 from each of the equity groups; 1 additional representative for non-binary members; 1 additional Black member representative.
Gender parity is maintained in each of the four groups. Members are elected for a three year term, with elections taking place at the National Human Rights / Race Relations Conference.
