All new members are entitled to an orientation from their local union.
Contact your local union to request an orientation or use the presentation slides below to familiarize yourself.

To request training for your local, please reach out to your Regional National Vice President.
Training and education are central to the success and growth of our union. Strong unions are made up of educated and empowered members.

Representation training is provided regionally through your National Union Representatives. Reach out to your Regional Union Office to learn about upcoming training opportunities in your region.

CEIU’s National Health & Safety Officers offers trainings on a range of topics.
CEIU’s Employment Equity & Human Rights Officer can provide training on employment equity, duty to accommodate, and a range of intersectional human rights topics.
PSAC offers some of the best union education courses in the Canadian labour movement.
The Online Education Program offers union training at your own pace and time. These introductory courses provide a solid overview on a range of topics. Explore the union’s basic roles and responsibilities including the services it provides all members.

The CLC’s Labour Education program offers in-person and virtual training.

Template financial statement (2025)
Locals are required to submit an audited financial statement annually to remain in good standing. Here is a financial statement template that locals can use.

This document provides instructions on how to read the monthly membership report issued by the CEIU National Office.
Managing local finance tutorial
Managing the day-to-day finance of your local is vital for the proper functioning of our union.
Submitting financial statements to the National Office is necessary for compliance with our bylaws and regulations, for example.
That’s why we offer customized training to CEIU locals across the country.
Our national Director of Finance and Administration is available to meet with your local to provide a tutorial on managing local finances.
