UPDATE: CEIU National Leadership
August 4, 2026 | By Matthew Brett
As of August 3, 2026, Rubina Boucher stepped down from her role as National President of CEIU.
Following this resignation, Helen King, the National Executive Vice-President for CEIU, assumed the role of National President, until she was sworn in on August 4, 2026, by Sharon DeSousa, National President of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), to ensure continuity in the leadership and governance of our Union.
National President Helen King administered the oath of office to Lisa Prescott, who has now been sworn in as CEIU’s National Executive Vice-President. Lisa previously served as regional National Vice-President (NVP) for CEIU-Ontario.
On behalf of CEIU’s newly elected leadership, members, and staff, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Rubina Boucher for her dedication, leadership, and service as National President.
Rubina led our union through a federal election, Workforce Adjustment, and the return-to-office mandate, all while modernizing the union, advancing equity, and fighting for the best interests of our members. We are grateful for her many contributions to the Union and wish her every success in her future endeavours.
While periods of transition can bring uncertainty, members can be assured that the National President and National Executive Vice-President remain committed to upholding the same standards of leadership, transparency, and service as we navigate these changes and keep members informed.
In Solidarity,
Helen King
CEIU National President
Lisa Prescott
CEIU National Executive Vice-President
