Agreement on leave for local leaders signed

CEIU has signed an agreement on leave for local leaders working in the Innovation, Information and Technology Branch (IITB) of HRSDC. Under the agreement, local presidents will provided with three days per month of leave with pay to handle their union responsibilities.

“This agreement will allow our local presidents be more effective in the workplace,” said National President Jeannette Meunier-McKay, “and will help balance their work, home and union responsibilities. As local leaders, they work as volunteers, and we very much appreciate their efforts on behalf of our members.”

Time for preparation and debriefing for meetings with management will be provided under the agreement, and access to the leave will also be available where the local president is the leader of an information or training session. The full text of the agreement is available here.
