Update on the letter from CEIU National President to Minister Finley demanding an apology

On December 5, 2011, CEIU National President, Don Rogers, wrote Minister Finley demanding an apology regarding her comments to the Editor of the Charlottetown Guardian on November 21, 2011.  Last December, Don received a disappointing response from Minister Finley’s office regarding the letter. The response stated that she was not able to meet with the CEIU National President at this time.  CEIU hasn’t received any other correspondence on this issue from the Minister’s Office since then. This is not the response CEIU would have hoped for from a Minister who made derogatory statement about her HRSDC staff and their representatives.

Note that the group grievance regarding the Minister’s comments is moving on.   A recalculation shows that 2183 CEIU members signed the grievance. Joanne Daniel, National Union Representative in Ottawa, will present the grievance before Mr. Peter Larose, ADM Human Resources Services Branch, on February 20, 2012.

Further updates will follow.
