Our new CEIU Leadership

Sister and Brothers,

We are honoured to have been elected as your CEIU National President and National Executive Vice-President (NEVP). To those of you that we have not yet had the opportunity to meet, please allow us to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves.

Eddy Bourque, our new National President, has been an activist in CEIU for over 12 years, having served most recently as a Deputy Trustee (DT) for the Atlantic Provinces, and previously as the National Vice-President (NVP) for New Brunswick. He has a strong background in leadership roles, in advocacy for equity seeking groups, and served as the co-chair of the CEIU 2017 National Convention Finance Committee.

Crystal Warner, our new NEVP, comes to us from Vancouver, where she served as the DT and former NVP for BC/YT. She has been active in CEIU since 2007. Her background ranges from student activism to working for the NDP. Her strengths lay in mobilization and organizing, as well as health and safety and political activism. She co-chaired the CEIU 2017 National Convention Bylaws Committee.

Our vision for the future of CEIU calls for a strong and united union. More than ever before, it is essential that we work together in solidarity, and re-focus our efforts towards making our component stronger then we have ever been. We will continue our efforts to build our union representation in the workplace at the local level by engaging and mobilizing our membership. Together, we will ensure that in the eyes of the employer our membership is organized, and ready to take action in support of our issues.

We know that the events over the last year have had an impact at all levels of CEIU, and to you, our members, we pledge to work in full solidarity on your behalf. Working alongside the members of the incoming National Executive, and with our staff from across the country, we seek to move CEIU into a new era of communication, with a focus on education and modernizing our approach to serving our members.

We would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate our new alternate NEVP elected at convention, Fabienne Jean-Francois, a Deputy Trustee, and a former NVP, for the Quebec region.

Thank you again, on behalf of us both, for your commitment to CEIU. We look forward to meeting you.

In Solidarity,
Eddy Bourque, National President – Elect
Crystal Warner, National Executive Vice-President – Elect
