HRSDC Still Analysing SDAII Claims

Below is a message that was prepared by the department to address the many enquiries that have been received by both the employer and CEIU:

This is further to the notice posted on this website on June 22, 2012 advising all those who had not previously self-identified to do so no later than August 31, 2012. The number of employees who have come forward since the signing of the agreement in July 2011 continues to grow. Each request requires a thorough and complex analysis, and consideration for payment can only be done when the analysis of the entire group has been completed.

We understand your concerns with the time required to complete this review and confirm that both the CEIU and the Department are actively engaged in this exercise. While we cannot confirm a specific time frame for completion, please be assured that the review of these situations remains a priority.

CEIU would like to add the following:

CEIU understands that there are serious concerns, specifically around the possibility that the department may deny some claims.  To set the record straight, at this time the department has not denied anyone, nor has management stated that this is their intention.  Should this happen however, CEIU will be prepared to examine all available options for recourse with those individuals.
