CEIU local supports striking PSAC members at the Museum of Civilization

Striking Alliance members at the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the War Museum are battling concessions, contracting out and a growing wage gap with other museums in the region. The 420 members began their strike on September 21 and soon received support from CEIU local 70708 (Headquarters region).

Joining strikers on the picket line were local 70708 executive members Kyle Trudeau and Jocelyne Bordage as well as National Vice-President Jacques Perrin. Trudeau and Bordage presented Patrice Remillard, a representative of the striking workers, with a donation of $250 from the members of local 70708. “The money is helpful,” said Trudeau, “but more important is showing your support in person.”

The museum staff gave their bargaining team an overwhelming 92% strike mandate and are standing firm in support of a fair contract. Ongoing news about the strike is available at the PSAC national website.
