Call Centre Victory

The Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU) wants to celebrate with its members the new Call Centre Employees provisions found in Article 58 of the Program and Administrative (PA) Collective Agreement.

CEIU members working in call centres have been facing harsh working conditions for years. To improve them, bargaining demands of the last round included some provisions to help these members. The PA Bargaining Team was able to negotiate improvements in article 58.

In line with this, CEIU met with Service Canada management for a consultation to develop guidelines to ensure that CEIU members working in call centres could benefit from these new provisions. These guidelines came into force last October. CEIU has started the same exercise with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. With both employers, this is done with committee members that include CEIU members working in call centers.

Thanks to members of CEIU, the Public Service Alliance of Canada was able to negotiate improvements to the working conditions of our members in call centres.

Thank you for your help with this!
