At a March 17 meeting with senior union leaders, management advised that they will suspend the implementation of their decision around name tags until they complete a risk assessment of the issue. The employer has also agreed to speak with the CEIU National President before taking any further steps.
National President Jeannette Meunier-McKay called the suspension “A step in the right direction” but cautioned members against seeing the move as a final victory. Management expects the assessment to take until at least June.
In the meantime, members are asked to continue to send their comments on the name tag issue to the union ( kersr@ceiu-seic.ca).
