Security concerns remain as Service Canada fails to carry out promised review of name tag requirement

As reported on February 27, Service Canada had agreed to review its policy requiring Service Canada Client-Facing staff to wear name tags. The policy prompted security concerns for members working in-person with clients, especially in light of increasing delays in EI processing and the growing frustration of claimants. A response on the promised review of the policy has not been received from Service Canada and the union advises that affected members should grieve the employer’s actions.

Members wishing to grieve may use the following:

I grieve the employer’s requirement that I wear a name tag displaying my first name, or initial, and last name. This allows clients to more easily contact me outside the workplace and places both my family and me at risk.

Corrective action:
That the employer withdraw this requirement and refrain from requiring me to divulge my personal information to clients.
