MP echoes union call for more EI staff

Libby Davies, Member of Parliament for Vancouver East, has called on the Minister responsible for Human Resources and Skills Development to increase Employment Insurance staffing levels to meet the swelling number of claimants.

In her letter to Minister Finley, Davies writes “I ask that you now act to increase staffing levels and resources to E.I. offices to ensure the most effective and timely delivery of the Employment Insurance program.” CEIU has made similar calls for more staff to handle the increased workload, noting that the failure to do so hurts both claimants who suffer payment delays and members who face excessive overtime work.
