Members meet on Nova Scotia ETA

Nova Scotia members affected by the Labour Market Development Agreement (LMDA) held meetings across the region to review issues surrounding the Employee Transfer Agreement (ETA). The ETA will set out the terms under which staff will move to the provincial civil service and members had an opportunity to discuss features of the agreement and to question experts provided by the PSAC.

Meetings were held in Metro Halifax, Oak Island, Sydney and New Glasgow in late September. Members heard from PSAC Pensions Officer James Infantino and Work Reorganization Officer Howie West. Both Infantino and West have assisted with ETA’s in other regions and members in Nova Scotia had an opportunity to learn about critical issues, including pensions, classification and job security.

“The feedback from members was positive” said Nova Scotia National Vice-President Theresa MacInnis, “the chance to learn more about the bridge that will take them to the province was a great opportunity.”

According to MacInnis, members have provided the union with a set of key issues they want the ETA to address. “Our meetings with the employer have gone well so far, and the input from members has been helpful and much appreciated” she said.

The list of key issues as well as minutes of the most recent meeting with the employer are available in the discussion forum section of this website. Members are invited to review the documents and post any questions and suggestions they have.

The union meets again with the employer on November 3.
