Members ratify new contract

PSAC members of the PA group have ratified the proposed collective agreement. The four year contract includes a $4000 lump sum payment and salary increases of 2.3% in the first year and 1.5% in each of the following three. November 25, 2008

Contract settlement: more details to follow

The agreements with the Treasury Board announced by the PSAC on November 24 have spawned a number of questions from members. In the coming days the PSAC will provide more details of the settlement, including answers to questions raised in a national conference call of the CEIU National Executive and Regional Union Offices. Locals act as team goes back to the bargaining table

Members again showed their support as their negotiating team heads for four days of bargaining at the PA table. The PA team meets with the Treasury Board October 6 to 9 and members are looking for a serious offer from the employer. September 2, 2008

Reaching work-life balance harder for shift workers

A recently released study from Statistics Canada confirms what most workers know intuitively: shift work makes a work-life balance harder to reach. In the current round of bargaining, the Treasury Board had pushed for contract changes to make it easier to convert day workers into shift workers, and while the union’s negotiating team resisted this pressure, the increased use of shift work remains on the agenda of Service Canada, CIC and the IRB.
