Across the country this summer, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered (GBLT) community will hold Pride celebrations marking their victories and looking ahead to the work yet to be done. Beginning with the first Pride parade in 1969, held in response to the violence and discrimination suffered by Gays in New York, Pride celebrations are now held in cities and towns around the world.
Within the union, CEIU’s Human Rights / Race Relations Committee promotes issues of concern within the GLBT membership while the PSAC’s Equal Opportunity Committee advances equity issues as an advisory committee to the union’s National Board of Directors
