CEIU’s local in Prince George sent a strong anti-bullying message through a special awareness day at their office. Local management joined them in the effort to address the issue of bullying in the workplace, in the schools and in the broader community. 100% of staff participated in the activities and many sent their children to school in pink.
Local 20921 Vice-President Marilyn Schmaus organized contacts in all four sections of the office and polled local management on their interest in participating. Support for the initiative was unanimous, and rather than holding formal awareness sessions the local opted for informal discussions over a pot-luck lunch.
The pink anti-bullying theme was everywhere and the feedback to the local executive was uniformly positive. They plan a similar awareness day next year.
