Leading the way on Access to Information and Privacy

CEIU members Johanne Jacques and Jacques Perrin have won the Brodie Harrington Award for their work at Service Canada’s Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Unit in Ottawa. The award, part of the department’s 2009 Awards of Distinction, came at a recent ceremony in the Headquarters region.

Perrin and Jacques work as a team at the ATIP unit. Perrin, who is also a CEIU National Vice President, praised the work of his co-worker who specializes in the privacy issues surrounding ATIP requests. “Privacy issues must addressed with both sensitivity and discipline, and Johanne is a master of both” said Perrin. He went on to say that both he and Johanne take pride in helping Canadians gain access to their personal information, adding “To give people what they want and what they deserve brings us a lot of satisfaction.”

National President Jeannette Meunier-McKay offered her congratulations to Johanne and Jacques, saying that the award offers further proof that talented individuals provide valuable public services to Canadians.
