In Memoriam: Darlene Dreger

CEIU offers its condolences to the family of Darlene Dreger, the union’s administrative staff member at the Alberta, NWT/Nunavut regional office in Edmonton. Darlene’s effective work on behalf of CEIU’s members won her widespread respect while her caring and considerate manner gained her the affection of all who came to know her.

Darlene worked for over 20 years with CEIU. She worked initially with former National Representative Cliff Baker and worked with a number of staff representatives in the years that followed. All knew they could count on her to handle difficult tasks and meet crucial deadlines, but even more impressive was her ability to anticipate problems well in advance and implement creative solutions. When other regions were hard-pressed with elevated workloads, Darlene would always come forward to help, a quality that endeared her to staff across the country.

“Darlene gave so much to our organization in her quiet, warm and efficient way,” said National President Jeannette Meunier-McKay, “and we will miss her greatly.”

Memorial Donations may be made to Living Waters Christian Centre, Y100E Londonderry Mall, Edmonton, AB. CEIU will be making a donation on behalf of the members who Darlene served so well.
