CEIU National Citizenship and Immigration Conference

The CEIU National Convention approved the holding of a National Conference of Citizenship and Immigration Representatives to be held June 4 and 5, 2016.  This will allow a national forum for Citizenship and Immigration members to identify issues that require CEIU to pursue.

The conference will be attended by the representatives and alternates of the CEIU National Citizenship and Immigration Advisory Committee.  Eleven (11) Citizenship and Immigration members in good standing across Canada are also entitled to attend as delegates. An election may be necessary within the regions.  It was agreed that each province + the NCR would be given a delegate seat – for a total of 11 delegate seats.  The territories are considered with the Alberta Region, Nunavut is considered with the Manitoba Region, and Yukon is considered with the BC Region.

Locals are hereby asked to submit nominations for delegates to the CEIU National Citizenship and Immigration Conference.  Attached is a nomination form which must be completed and returned to the CEIU National Office by no later than February 29th, 2016, 4:00 pm Ottawa time.  Please note that only members in good standing may nominate delegates.

Space for observers is limited and the spots will be given on the basis of first-come / first-serve. Should you wish to apply as an observer, please fill out the attached nomination form which must also be completed and returned to the CEIU National Office by no later than February 29th, 2016, 4:00 p.m. Ottawa time.

Requirements for delegates/observers: One of the requisite for the delegates and observers selected to attend this conference is that each will be willing to provide training/updates once they return to their offices.  This information needs to be ongoing and shared with all the members.  A report of such outreach from each of the delegates needs to be sent to the National Office.
