CEIU launches social network for members as part of new website

Welcome to CEIU’s new website! The site features a fresh design and a new social network exclusively for the use of CEIU members. The Member Network connects members across the country and provides the collaboration tools needed to work together on issues of common concern. CEIU members can sign up now for their login account on the Member Network.

Increasing numbers of CEIU members use social networks, such as Facebook and MySpace, to connect with family and friends, and to come together around the issues that are important to them. The CEIU Member Network provides easy-to-use tools that let members collaborate on the issues they face at work. And the Network is more than just “union stuff” – members are free to get together with others who share interests beyond the world of work.

The need for new and better connections between members has been growing in recent years. Many members are now managed regionally or nationally, and often have more in common with those at worksites hundreds of kilometers away than with members in the same office or city. The Member Network lets them connect, form groups around issues common to their job, and organize in support of solutions that will work for them.

The Member Network is open only to CEIU members and allows each user precise control over who can view the information they post to the network. Files uploaded by a user to the network can, for example, be restricted to the user’s friends, a small selection of friends – or be made available to all network users. The network is designed to connect users easily, but to respect each member’s need for confidentiality.
