Call for nominations for Alternate National Vice Presidents

 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

May 8, 2017

On behalf of the National Nominations and Elections Chairperson, the Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU) is hereby calling for nominations for the following positions:

If more than one nomination is received for any of these positions, elections will take place later on.

As per CEIU By-Laws 12.3.2, 12.3.3, 12.3.4, 12,3.5 and 12.3.6, Regional Nominations and Elections Chairpersons will be named for each of the regions as well as for the elections for Women’s Issues, CIC, IRB and Human Rights.


ALTERNATE NATIONAL VICE-PRESIDENTS –
REGIONS

Nominations are being sought for the positions of A/NVPs for the following regions:

Any member in good standing is entitled to nominate another member in good standing for the position(s) of Alternate National Vice-President(s) representing each of the regions listed above.

The Alternate National Vice-President(s) will be elected by secret ballot by all of the members in good standing of the particular region(s).


ALTERNATE NATIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT –
IMMIGRATION & REFUGEE BOARD (IRB)

Nominations are being sought for the position of A/NVP for the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).

Any member in good standing from IRB is entitled to nominate another IRB member in good standing for the position of Alternate National Vice-President for the IRB.

The Alternate National Vice-President for IRB will be elected by secret ballot by members in good standing from the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).


NATIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT –
CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION CANADA (CIC)

Nominations are being sought for the position of A/NVP Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) which is now known as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Any member in good standing from CIC is entitled to nominate another CIC member in good standing for the position of Alternate National Vice-President for the CIC.

The Alternate National Vice-President for CIC will be elected by secret ballot by members in good standing from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.


NATIONAL VICE-PRESIDENTS –
WOMEN’S ISSUES

Nominations are being sought for the positions of A/NVPs for Women’s Issues for the following areas:

Any member in good standing is entitled to nominate a woman member in good standing for the positions of Alternate National Vice-Presidents representing the areas listed above.

 

The Alternate National Vice-Presidents for Women’s Issues will be elected by secret ballot by all members in good standing who belong to the respective areas of the position(s).


NATIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT –
HUMAN RIGHTS

Nominations are being sought for the position of A/NVP for Human Rights.

Any member in good standing who has self-identified (by submitting the self-identification form to the CEIU National Office) as being a member of any of the following equity groups: First Nations/Métis/Inuit; Members with Disabilities; Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgendered Persons; and Racially Visible is entitled to nominate another member in good standing who has self-identified for the position of Alternate National Vice-President for Human Rights.

The Alternate National Vice-President for Human Rights will be elected by secret ballot by members of the following equity groups: First Nations/Métis/Inuit; Members with Disabilities; Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgendered Persons; and Racially Visible members.

Should more than one nomination be received for the position of A/NVP for Human Rights, members that have already self-identified with CEIU and who are registered on the CEIU National List will receive a ballot at home. (Members are responsible for ensuring that CEIU has their correct home address.)  

Members that have not yet self-identified with CEIU and wish to do so, have until June 5th, 2017 to fill out a self-identification form found on the CEIU website and send it to the CEIU National Office, in order to be able to vote for the A/NVP for Human Rights.
