CEIU locals in Winnipeg kicked off their collective bargaining campaign with a rooftop barbeque. Current contracts will expire next year, and all levels of the union are gearing up for the coming round of negotiations.
Three Winnipeg locals organized the event, led by executive members Heather Millar (50772), Daniel Minucci (50767), Susan Nguyen and Chris Davis (50757). Joining local members were PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President Robyn Benson and CEIU National President Jeannette Meunier-McKay.
Benson spoke about current PSAC political action initiatives in the Prairies region while Meunier-McKay encouraged members to become active around pension issues and collective bargaining, including the development of bargaining proposals aimed at improving conditions in call centres.
“I thank our Winnipeg locals for raising the profile of bargaining issues as we enter this latest round of bargaining,” said Meunier-McKay, “and I encourage all locals to involve their members in the negotiation process.”
