CEIU members have shown great support in this round of bargaining and our bargaining team asks that you keep it up as they meet for a week of talks with the Treasury Board. Negotiations in March saw some movement from the employer, but much more is needed as the talks now turn to pay increases.
As talks progress, the employer is paying closer attention to the level of interest and support shown by members around bargaining. If we show we’re motivated to work for a fair contract, local management will pass that up the line. If we don’t, that too goes up the line—and the Treasury Board will offer us less.
Sending the right message to the employer and showing support for our bargaining team can be done in many ways. Locals have raised the profile of bargaining in the workplace by displaying buttons and other materials provided by the CEIU and PSAC, colour-dressing for a day (black, green and red have been the favourites so far) and lobbying government MP’s. There is no shortage of ways to send the right message to our team and the employer, so during the week of April 21 be sure to show you care about getting a fair contract. For more ideas, contact your regional CEIU or PSAC office.
