Members at CEIU local 20975 in Victoria turned Halloween colours into support for the PA bargaining team last week. Black and orange fashion set the tone and treats traveled with bargaining news across the office.
Local President and Area Strike Coordinator Mandi Schubert asked members to wear orange and black as a signal of support for the PA bargaining team, and her members responded. Members voted for the most fashionable union supporter and chose Cathy O’Brien as the winner, noting the deft use of accessories in her outfit.
“We had a good time,” said Schubert, “but bargaining is a serious business and our members know it. Victoria is an expensive place to live and we’re looking for a good settlement.”
National President Jeannette Meunier-McKay echoed Schubert’s comments, saying “Our members don’t want an agreement that leaves them standing still–they want pay increases that move them forward.” She continued by noting the importance of support activities for the bargaining team and thanked the local and its leadership for their work: “Good organization and participation always pays off, and I’m proud to have these members as part of the CEIU.”
