Casual dress, solid support

As negotiations resumed with the Treasury Board, Quebec locals switched to casual dress to show their solid support for their bargaining team. Members also used postcards to send a message to the employer about the current round of bargaining.

At local 10362 (Louiseville, Trois-Rivières, La Tuque, Shawinigan, Bécancour, Victoriaville, Centre du Québec et le Centre d’appels de Shawinigan), more that 206 members (96%) dressed down and sent union postcards to the employer. Local President Marc Bellefeuille praised his members and said, “We support our bargaining team and we’re showing it.”

In Repentigny (19359), members coordinated their casual dress. According to Local President Christiane Allaire, “A large number of members followed the move to support the bargaining team by wearing running shoes, jeans and white tops with the green CEIU button.” As the picture below shows, they went casual from head to toe.

National President Jeannette Meunier-McKay thanked the members and their local leaders for their action. “Expressing our unity is critical in collective bargaining. It sends the right messages—to our bargaining team and to the employer—and I deeply appreciate the steps these locals are taking.”

The PA bargaining team meets the Treasury Board April 21-25. Check the PSAC and CEIU websites regularly for updates on negotiations.
