Getting ready in Sarnia

CEIU members in Sarnia joined with PSAC members from Customs on September 15 to present their local MP with a petition asking for a fair contract.

More than 80 members marched through downtown Sarnia to the office of MP Roger Gallaway for a brief rally and the presentation of the petition. The petition was signed by 150 members and, according to CEIU local president Mike Ellenor, it “…put our views forward clearly: we want a decent contract, nothing more and nothing less.”

The action was covered by local radio stations and the Sarnia Observer. Quoted in the Observer, Ellenor echoed the sentiments of his members when he said bluntly “There needs to be a much better offer.” CEUDA local president Mike Coene was equally blunt when he told the Observer “We can guarantee we’ll be on strike unless there is a better offer.”
